Cross Country Ski Report – Friday, November 25th

Greetings from Higgins Lake!

Like most of us today, you are probably pondering if it was wise to have that third serving of pumpkin pie last night, as well as wonder if there is enough snow to go skiing at XC Ski HQ.  Unfortunately, the answer to both questions is ‘Not really’.

On Wednesday (remember, before all that turkey eating), we did receive a nice helping of 3-4″ of wet, heavy snow, and boy, does it look beautiful on the ground and in the trees.  However, the temps since then have floated around 32-35F, and so the ground and the snow is too thin, warm and wet to groom, and skiing would just immediately melt the snow on the ground.

Remember, today is our Get Outside on Black Friday challenge, so make sure to take a hike somewhere and post to social media with the #xcskihq hashtag to get your FREE pint glass. It is still fire-arm deer season on the majority of our trails, so be sure to wear some orange (or borrow one of our orange vests).
