Cross Country Ski Report – Friday, Feb 28

Pretty chilly this morning, -28F as of 7am. Should warm up 34 degrees to a warm 6F by noon! At least the wind has died down and we will see lots of sun until the late afternoon. Ginzu Dana will continue to Ginzu groom all the trails throughout this morning.
All 8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of classic skiing and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 15 to 25 inches (34 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 17 to 37 inches. Conditions are very good to excellent for classic and skate skiing. Some oak leaves are in the tracks on some parts of the trails.
Today: Sunny in the morning and partly sunny in the afternoon. High 9F. Light winds.

Tonight: Snow likely. Low 9F. Snow accumulating 1 to 3 inches. Winds S 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Cloudy with snow showers in the morning then partly sunny in the afternoon. High 18F. Wind NW 5 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow 10:00am – 12:00noon, Foresters Boots (Keith III) Martell of Weyerhaeuser Company and Brittany Mauricette of the Conservation District will be guiding participants through the trail system to help people learn to identify tree species without their foliage. People of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate. The tour will be at a leisurely pace through 3.4 miles of groomed trails. Only XC skiing and snowshoeing will be permitted. The price to participate is $8.00 (includes full day facilities pass + tour) and $15 (includes equipment rental + 3 hour facilities pass + tour). To RSVP, contact Brittany Mauricette, Conservation District Forester bmauricette@otsegocountymi.gov, 989-732-4021.

Today’s lunch special is our Classic Ham & Swiss Panini: sliced Black Forest ham, sliced fresh tomatoes, Swiss cheese and spicy brown mustard, served on Stone House Bread and grilled to perfection! Of course Famous Spicy or Veggie Chili served with a warm 7 grain roll and a variety of sandwiches, paninis and Bosco Sticks are also on today’s menu.

The sunshine is most welcome today!
