Cross Country Ski Report – Friday, February 7th, 2014

The trails groomed up very nicely yesterday and remain in excellent condition. Ginzu Dana will start re-grooming all the trails early this morning.

All 8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of classic and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 13 to 24 inches (30 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 17 to 38 inches. Conditions are excellent for classic and skate skiing.

Today: Cloudy early then partly sunny in the afternoon. High 14F. Winds WSW 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday: Partly sunny in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon. High 20F. Winds WSW 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Partly cloudy. High 20F. Winds WNW 5 to 10 mph.

Lynne and Bob skied the Louis M Groen Nature Preserve trails in Johannesburg and the Pine Baron Pathway trails in Gaylord yesterday. Both trail systems had machine double tracked for classic skiing and are in great shape. Also in great shape is the Mason Track trail that runs along side the South Branch of the Ausable river. It has beautiful machine set tracks, and like the Louis Groen and Pine Baron trails is Pure Michigan X-C skiing.

Today’s lunch special is our Famous Chili and Veggie Chili served with a warm 7 grain roll. A fine selection of paninis and sandwiches are also on today’s menu.

In the forest the winds are calm and the skiing is superb!
