Cross Country Ski Report – Friday, January 10th, 2014

Great skiing yesterday. Groomer Garrett did a great job grooming. Groomer Dana will start grooming and snowcombing all the trails and setting fresh tracks where needed this morning at day break.

8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) and all are in very, very good to excellent condition. Depth of packed snow ranges from 8 to 10 inches (17 inches in the Blizzard XC Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 12 to 20 inches.

Today, Mostly Cloudy, High 32F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Friday night, Possible freezing rain changing to light rain. Low 29F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph..

Saturday, Fog and light rain early..then periods of light snow in the afternoon.. Temps steady in the mid 30’s. Wind WSW 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precip 70%

Saturday night, Cloudy with snow showers. Low 22F. winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday, Partly sunny. High 33. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow is Priority Health’s Family Winter Trails Day. There is still room for more snowshoers. You get to use some great Tubbs snowshoes, get fitted by a snowshoe expert and go on a guided snowshoe hike to Trapper’s cabin for hot dogs and hot cocoa! This Sunday ski instructor Jim Bradley will host another “Kids X-C Ski Event”  for kids aged 7 to 12. Includes ski rentals, ski lesson, pizza and beverage lunch and a ski tour. All for $40 per kid. Starts at 11am and finishes at 2pm. Jim will be available for private lessons after the Kids Ski and all day Saturday too.

Today’s lunch special is home made Spilt Pea Soup served with a warm 7 grain roll  Famous Spicy Chili will also be served along with Vegetarian Chili and a host of specialty paninis and sandwiches.

The cold snap is over – time to X-C Ski!
