Cross Country Ski Report – Friday, January 31st, 2014

Great day of skiing yesterday. The glide was exceptional.

We received about 2 inches of fluffy snow last evening. Just what Ginzu Dana needs to ginzu groom all the trails with this morning. He will start at dawn.

All 8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of classic and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 11 to 19 inches (24 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 16 to 37 inches. Conditions are excellent for classic and skate skiing.

Today: Scattered snow showers in the morning then partly sunny this afternoon. High 18F. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30%
Saturday: Cloudy with snow showers, becoming steadier later in the day. High 22F. Chance of snow 70%. Wind ESE 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 70%. Possible accumulation 2 to 4 inches.
Sunday: Few snow showers. High 17F. Wind W @ 11 mph

Lynne and Bob skied the Ogemaw Hills Pathway north of West Branch yesterday. Beautiful hardwood forest! Enjoyed a fine dinner at the Willow Tree afterwards and met with Chef / owner Tony Gojcaj. The end result is a “Ski and Eat Special at the Willow Tree”. Show your Cross Country Ski Headquarters Trail Sponsor badge or Facilities Pass and get a complimentary dessert with your dinner entree!

Today’s lunch special n the Stone Turtle Day Lodge is Bob’s Favorite Tuna Panini: albacore tuna, black olives, jalapenos and fresh spinach. Of course Famous Spicy Chili and Veggi Chili will also be served with a warm 7 grain roll along with a variety of sandwiches and paninis.

Good luck to the Cross Country Ski Headquarters Team and all racers in tomorrow’s White Pine Stampede!
