It was a Junior Muffin Race for the books yesterday, with fast conditions, sunny skies, and the best costumes to date. Local junior racers from Roscommon, as well as skiers from Traverse City, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, and Freeland participated in the longest standing junior nordic ski race in Michigan. The awards on the sun deck were memorable as well. Thanks to all who participated, we are already looking forward to next year!
After softening up yesterday afternoon and re-freezing overnight, conditions will be fast this morning once Groomer Butch snowcombs the skating lanes. Temps look to be warm again today, so the snow will soften as the day progresses. There are 5 to 7 inches of snow packed on the trails, and 8 to 12 inches in the woods. More snow is in the forecast for this week, so do your snow dance!
It’s the last week of February, which means spring skiing is right around the corner! It’s the perfect time of year to try out a back country ski package, or surf the spring crust on some skate skis. Book a ski lesson with one of our awesome instructors, or demo some skis for free, any day of the week. A ski fitting expert is always available to help get you into the right equipment!
See you on the snow this week!
