Cross Country Ski Report – Monday, January 13th, 2014

Groomer Dana spent a lot of time Ginzu grooming the trails yesterday and Groomer Bob used the Yellowstone Powder Maker to turn crusty snow into granulated snow.

Groomer Dana will start Ginzu grooming and setting fresh tracks on all the trails this morning at dawn.

All 8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of classic and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 5 to 10 inches (17 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 7 to 14 inches. Conditions are very good for skate skiing and good to very good for classic skiing on the fresh cut tracks..

Monday, Cloudy. 30% chance of snow or wintry mix.  High in the low 30’s. Wind SW 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday, Periods of snow, High 24F. Winds E 5 to 10 mph. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected.

Tuesday night, Periods of snow, Low 12F. Winds E 5 to 10 mph. 2 to 4 inches of snow expected.

Congratulations to the the Cross Country Ski Headquarters team for the fine showing at this weekend’s wet and wild Frosty Freestyle and Krazy Klassic ski races in Brighton. Way to go team! And way to go all Michigan Cup Skiers!!

Today’s Stone Turtle Day Lodge lunch special is ” Bob’s Tuna Panini” made with spinach, jalapenos, black olives and special sauce served on ciabatta. Of course famous spicy chili and veggie chili will be served along with other delicious paninis and sandwiches.
