Cross Country Ski Report – Saturday, March 14, 2015

As of 6:30 am this morning it was 38F, and too warm to groom. The warm temperatures of the last few days has taken a toll on the trails. Even though there is still a lot of snow on the ground, there are a number of spots on the trails that receive enough direct sunlight to create bare spots.   However, Rolling Hills trail (sans extension) still has 100% snow coverage.  As well, Trappers Cabin trail only has a few bare spots that can be easily navigated.  Both the Wild Turkey and Adventure trails have navigable bare spots plus one or two ‘land bridges’ that skiers will need to walk across.  The Tall Pines and Manitou trails are closed.   Tomorrow morning will be much cooler and should allow for grooming.  We have 0 to 8 inches of snow in the woods and 0 to 6 inches of snow packed on the trails.

Today: Cloudy skies. High near 40F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph.

Tonight: Cloudy skies early, followed by partial clearing. A few flurries are possible.  Low 28F.  Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday: Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 54F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday night:  Cloudy.  Low 38F.  Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Monday:  Cloudy.  highs in the low 60s and lows in the upper 20s.

Today’s lunch special is Gourmet Chili Bar.  Your selection of Famous Classic or Veggie Chili with fresh cornbread muffins or a bread roll, and then you top it off with more fixings than anyone could handle!  In addition, the Stone Turtle Cafe will be serving hot paninis made to order.
