Cross Country Ski Report – Sunday, February 3rd, 2013

Trails groomed up very nicely yesterday.
The tracks are in good shape and groomer Dana will start Ginzu snowcombing all the skating lanes early this morning.
The Rolling Hills, Mackinac Cut and Wild Turkey trails have excellent conditions. The Manitou, Blizzard, Adventure and Trapper’s Cabin trails have very good conditions. The Tall Pines trail has good conditions.
Today: Variably cloudy with snow showers. High around 20F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 80%. 1 to 2 inches of snow expected.
Tonight: Snow showers this evening becoming more scattered later. Low 3F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 40%
Monday: Mostly cloudy with a few snow showers in the morning. High 17F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 30%.
Monday night: A few clouds from time to time. Low 4F. Winds light and variable
Tuesday: Chance of a few snow showers. Highs in the low 20s and lows in the mid teens.
New Snow: 1 inch
Snow Depth in Woods: 6 to 10 inches
Packed Snow Depth on Trails: 4 – 7 inches
Ice, Glaze, Barespots: All trails are groomed and snow covered.  Occasional ice shows through in the tracks later in the day. No barespots.

Congrats to Team XC Ski HQ for a great showing at the White Pine Stampede! Team member Alex Vanias won the 40km overall, and Kaitlyn Patterson won second overall for the women’s 40km. Talk about a power couple!
The Roscommon High School team did great at the Hanson Hills Biathlon, with Team member Alex Dodge winning first place overall, and team member Carlotta Di Maggio from Italy winning first for the girls division. Way to go, Team!
