Cross Country Ski Report – Thursday, February 27th, 2014

We received more snow last night along with some good gusts of wind. Ginzu Dana spent a lot of time yesterday setting new tracks on the Rolling Hills Trail with good success in the battle against the oak leaves. This fresh snow will help him do more of the same on the rest of the trails today.

All 8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of classic skiing and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 15 to 25 inches (34 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 17 to 37 inches. Conditions are very good to excellent for classic and skate skiing. Some oak leaves are in the tracks on some parts of the trails.

Today: Numerous snow showers in the morning with intermittent sunshine. High 1F. Winds NW 15 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 60%. Accumulation up to 1 inch.

Friday: Partly sunny. High 10F. Wind SSE 5 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Cloudy with snow showers in the morning then partly sunny in the afternoon. High 15F. Wind NW 5 to 15 mph.

Today’s lunch special is the “Veggie Panini”: thinly sliced fresh peppers, onions & tomatoes, plus fresh baby spinach, home made hummus, pesto and provolone, served on ciabatta and grilled to perfection! Of course Famous Spicy or Veggie Chili served with a warm 7 grain roll.and a variety of sandwiches, paninis and Bosco Sticks are also on today’s menu.

This Saturday at 10am we will offer a ski tour with a forester! Learn to identify all the trees along the trails!
