Cross Country Ski Report – Tuesday, March 12th, 2013

Tuesday March 12, 2013

We received enough rain last evening to really saturate the snow pack. Then at night it snowed a little so everything is all white again.

It did not snow enough or get cold enough to groom the trails, yet. With the cooler temps today and tonight’s low of 19F skiing should be good tomorrow. We still have quite a base.

The Mackinac Cut, Wild Turkey, Rolling Hills, Tall Pines, Trapper’s Cabin, Manitou, Adventure and Blizzard trails all have wet spring conditions for classic skiing. The trails are too saturated to groom today.

Today: Snow flurries and snow showers. High around 30F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 60%

Tonight: Variably cloudy with snow showers. Low 19F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 60%. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected.

Wednesday: Snow showers will become more widely scattered in the afternoon. High 29F. Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 60%. About one inch of snow expected.

Wednesday night: A few flurries possible early. A few clouds. Low 16F. Winds NW at 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday: Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the mid 30s and lows in the mid 20s.

New Snow: less than 1 inch

Snow Depth in Woods: 4 to 8 inches

Packed Snow Depth on Trails: 4 – 8 inches

Ice, Glaze, Barespots: Very wet snow pack – better just to classic ski today

Today’s Stone Turtle Day Lodge special is a variety of Panini sandwiches and Spicy Chili and Veggie Chili.

Today would be a great day to shop the “March Madness, aka Labor Day Sale”

Looking forward to cooler & snowier weather!
