Cross Country Ski Report – Wednesday, January 8th

As forecast, the weather was very cold yesterday, but we still had some hearty skiers who pressed on regardless! The temps will warm up a little today and by noon will be 8 above and the wind will be much lighter than yesterday.

Grooming this morning will start a little later than usual to allow the temps to warm a little.

8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) and all are in very good to excellent condition. There are some leaves in the tracks.

Depth of packed snow ranges from 8 to 10 inches (17 inches in the Blizzard XC Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 12 to 20 inches.

Today, Partly sunny with possible morning snow showers, High 13F. Winds W 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday, Mostly sunny, High 17. Wind S @ 10 mph.

Friday, Cloudy, High 31 Winds S @ 11 mph

Saturday is Priority Health’s Family Winter Trails Day. This is a great opportunity for novices who have never tried snowshoeing to give it a try. Famous Tubbs Snowshoe guide Tom Lawrence will lead a snowshoe hike Saturday morning. There is no cost for using the snowshoes or for Tom’s guided hike. You must make a reservation however. Email your name to: info@crosscountryski.com and put “snowshoe” in the subject line. You will receive an email confirmation. There is a limited supply of snowshoes (42) so make your reservation soon.

Today’s lunch special is the Turkey Pesto Panini made with Black Forest Turkey, Swiss cheese, spinach and pesto, served on Stone House 7 grain bread. Famous Spicy Chili served with a warm 7 grain roll will also be served along with Vegetarian Chili and a host of specialty paninis and sandwiches.
