Greetings, skiers! What a way to start the season! We have received about 10-12″ of snow since Thanksgiving. A great many skiers have enjoyed the copious snow and rustic conditions on the trails, which thus far have been ungroomed due to the moisture in the snow. Now that the snow has dried out and the ground has gotten colder, Groomer Mike will roll/pack the trails today. Depending on how that goes, we may be able to snow comb as a next step! Regardless, all trails and the rental desk are open. After rolling we will have about 4-6″ of packed snow on the trails, and 10-12″ in the woods.
The Stone Turtle Cafe is open for coffee, tea, cocoa, chili, and some adult beverages. The full menu will be available this Saturday, December 6th.

The Stone Turtle Cafe opens for the season! Check out our new menu, featuring more regenerative, Michigan-based foods than ever before. Plus, learn how to cross country ski at our FREE beginner ski lesson! You will learn the basics of traditional (classic style) XC ski technique, plus hill climbing, descending, and turning. You will even learn how to get up when you fall down! Free lessons are limited to 25 people. Ski rentals are available at the rental desk on a first-come, first-served basis (we do not take rental reservations). The free lesson lasts 1 hour. *Snow Permitting
Friday, December 12th: XC Ski HQ Race Team Kick-Off Party
The XC Ski HQ Ski Team will kick off the race season this weekend with a team dinner party! We will feast, introduce new and existing team members, discuss the race schedule, and talk strategy for holding onto the Michigan Cup. An entree will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass or a beverage to share. The HQ team is known for its great camaraderie amongst members, and is very welcoming to new members, so if you’re considering racing this season and joining our team, please join us for the team dinner!
