Cross Country Ski Report – Sunday, Feb 16

Just about a perfect day of skiing yesterday. Looks very good for today too. We received over an inch of fresh powder last night and, as of 6:30 am, it is still snowing. The fresh snow will enable Ginzu Dana to groom up the trails to a very high standard this morning. He will start grooming at dawn.

All 8 trails are open for a total of 18 kilometers (11 miles) of classic and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 13 to 24 inches (30 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 17 to 38 inches. Conditions are excellent for classic and skate skiing.
Today: Light snow in the morning and then sunny in the afternoon. High 19F. Winds NNE 5 to 10 mph.

Monday: Scattered snow showers early and steady light snow later in the day. High 20F. Winds SE 10 to 20 mph. Accumulation around 2 inches. Chance of snow 90%.

Today is Paella Sunday!

What is becoming a very popular XC Ski HQ tradition, Paella Fiesta celebrates the world-renowned and absolutely delicious rice dish that originates in Spain, and offers skiers a hearty, flavorful feast. After learning the method from Paella chef master Ayo in Nerja, Spain, Bob and Lynne are excited to serve this traditional dish to hungry skiers at XC Ski HQ. Prepared in a massive steel pan over open flame, this lunch is almost as enjoyable to watch being cooked as it is to eat! Served piping hot with vegetables and slow-cooked, Saffron infused chicken and shrimp. Buen Provecho!

Also today, Trapper Matt will be at the cabin this afternoon tending the bonfire and serving hot cocoa and hot dogs!

Congratulations to XC Ski HQ team member Ryan Halstead for winning 1st place overall at the Forbush Corner Freestyle race yesterday!
