Cross Country Ski Report – Sunday, March 9th

The snow is getting warmer during the day and with the cooler nights becoming hard packed. Ginzu Dana spent many hours last night Ginzu grooming the hard pack to prepare for today’s Michigan Cup Relays.

The Relays will start at 11am and the racers will be using the Manitou and Rolling Hills trails. These trails will be closed until the race is over, probably sometime around 1 this afternoon..

Ginzu Dana will be grooming the Tall Pines, Mackinac Cut, Wild Turkey, Adventure and Blizzard trails this morning. These trails are open for a total of 9 kilometers (5 miles) of classic skiing and skate skiing. Depth of packed snow ranges from 15  to 28 inches (34 inches in the Blizzard X-C Ski Park where we make snow). Depth of unpacked snow ranges from 16 to 36 inches. Groomed hard packed conditions prevail.

Today Partly sunny. High 34F. Light winds becoming SW 10 to 15 mph.

Monday: Mostly cloudy. Chance of flurries in the morning and sprinkles through the day. Highs in the mid 40’s. Winds 5 to 15 mph.

The Stone Turtle Day Lodge be very busy today. After the Michigan Cup Relays, the staff will be serving lunch to over 160 hungry racers!
