The conditions are awesome! We received 4-5 inches of snow in the last 24 hours. The grooming team has been hard at work since before dawn this morning packing, grooming, and setting classic tracks on all the trails. There is 18-24″ of snow in the woods, and 5-7″ of snow packed on the trails. Join us for great skiing and a yummy mac ‘n […]

Cross Country Ski Report: Friday, January 16th

We received another inch of snow last night, and it’s currently snowing, with snow forecasted all day! The grooming team is out snowcombing the skate lanes, and the classic tracks are a few days old but holding up pretty well in most areas. We should be able to reset classic tracks tomorrow morning and the skiing this weekend should be excellent! Come ski with […]

Cross Country Ski Report – Thursday, Jan 15th

XC SKI HQ Trail Head

Good day! It’s a bright, clear, cold morning. The grooming team is snowcombing the skating lanes, which are in great shape. There are classic tracks, albiet somewhat shallow and glazed in spots. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow, so we’re looking forward to a great weekend of skiing and fun on snow! The Stone Turtle Cafe is open for lunch and drinks today.

Cross Country Ski Report: Wednesday, January 14th

Things cooled back down overnight and the soft spots yesterday are now mostly hardened back up. The grooming team is out freshening up the trails, and while the trail head is a little icy, once you get out into the network where the hardpack has been chewed up by the teeth of the groomer, the snow is pretty darn skiable! Tracks are fairly glazed […]

Cross Country Ski Report: Tuesday, January 13th

Golden Years Ski School Cross Country Ski Headquarters

The temps are now above freezing, and snow is falling. The snow on the trails will continue to soften until things re-freeze tonight. Conditions are totally skiable, though will get softer and slower as the day progresses. Cold temps are in the forecast. We will not groom today in order to not make slush. There is well over a foot of snow in the […]

Classic XC Ski Tracks grooming XC SKI HQ

The grooming turned out just beautifully yesterday. The grooming team set tracks and snow-combed all the trails yesterday after the fresh snowfall, and all trails were freshly snow-combed this morning. Conditions are very good for classic and skating. The Stone Turtle Cafe is open for lunch today, or bring your own picnic! The fires are going.

Cross Country Ski Report: Sunday, January 11th

We received 3-4 inches of fresh snow last night, and the trails are open! Groomer Mike is out rolling and packing the trails, and Groomer Tony has the practice field looking fresh and gorgeous. After we roll the main network, we should be able to snowcomb early this afternoon. We will hold of on setting fresh tracks, but the skiing should be lovely nonetheless! […]

Cross Country Ski Report: Saturday, January 10th

The main trail network will be closed today, as conditions are icy and unsafe. We did groom the practice field today, and will host the free lesson at 10:30. We are hopeful that we will get the 4″ of forecasted snow later today and tonight and will be able to open the trails again on Sunday.

Cross Country Ski Report (UPDATED): Friday, January 9th

After further inspection of the trails this afternoon, we are making the call to close the trails for tomorrow, Saturday. It is unfortunate, but there is just too much ice out there for conditions to be safe. We are still expecting snow tomorrow afternoon, but we will have to wait to ski on until it can bond with the hard surface underneath. We will […]

Cross Country Ski Report: Wednesday, January 7th

Temps dipped to 31 last night, so things may have hardened up slightly, but chances are most spots will still be soft. We are closing the trails at noon once again to prevent rutting and to preserve the base as best we can. The trails will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, for that same reason. Rain Thursday night leading into Friday will more than likely […]

Cross Country Ski Report: Tuesday, January 6th

Trails will be soft and mushy this morning, and we will be closing the trails at noon to preserve the base for the coming warm up. Wintery mix leading to rain this evening. No grooming.

Cross Country Ski Report: Monday, January 5th

We received 4″ more inches of snow last night, and groomer Mike is out rolling and packing the trails presently. We plan to groom afterwards, providing the snow is not too sticky!
