These are our real daily trail reports, written each morning by the same crew who grooms the trails. We are a full service cross country ski shop and trail system in Roscommon, Michigan, and these reports come straight from people walking and grooming the snow, not modeled forecasts. Reports typically cover skate and classic conditions separately, since a good skate day is not always a good classic day. After cold temps and a bit of snow yesterday and last night, the trails are looking much better. The groomer is out snowcombing and chewing up the crust to make for great skate lanes, and we will cut some tracks as well. Should be a great day for skiing!
Although the temps have gotten back below freezing, we still need to let the trails firm back up from the warm wet weather yesterday. The trials will be closed today in order to make sure we can have good skiing for the weekend. Luckily, we still have a good base, and, it is snowing right now and we should see a little accumulation today.
The trails will be closed today and tomorrow to try to protect the base though the warm weather over the next 2 days. Things should get cold again Thursday night into Friday morning with a bit snow, so with any luck, we should still have good skiing by the weekend!
We received 1-2 of inches of snow last night. All trails have firm, deep classic tracks and snow-combed skate lanes. Prime conditions prevail! Groomer Mike set fresh tracks last night so they could firm up in the cold temps, and snowcombed the skate lanes this morning and the conditions are excellent! We have about 5-8″ of packed snow on the trails, and 12-15″ in the woods.

Tracks were set yesterday, and after 2-3 more inches last night, we’ll set tracks again this morning. It is absolutely gorgeous out there! We received about 3′ more inches last night and it’s still snowing as we speak. Groomer Mike rolled everything this morning and is now out snowcombing and setting classic tracks. Hallelujah!!
