These are our real daily trail reports, written each morning by the same crew who grooms the trails. We are a full service cross country ski shop and trail system in Roscommon, Michigan, and these reports come straight from people walking and grooming the snow, not modeled forecasts. Reports typically cover skate and classic conditions separately, since a good skate day is not always a good classic day. Happy spring skiing! Groomer Mike will snow comb Rolling Hills, Trappers cabin, Mackinaw Cut and Wild Turkey this morning. Tall Pines and Adventure are open, but ungroomed, as the snow needs to freeze up a bit more to handle the groomer. Expect many great stretches, fast downhills, occasional crusty spots, bits of debris from the wind and possibly some damp spots in the lower
After a light dusting of snow yesterday, and cold temps overnight, Groomer Mike was able to snow comb Rolling Hills, Trappers cabin, Mackinaw Cut and Wild Turkey. Tall Pines and Adventure need a little more time to freeze back up. Expect many great stretches, occasional crusty spots, bits of debris from the wind and possibly some damp spots in the lower areas. After a little dusting of snow, the trails are still in good shape, albeit a little crusty. No grooming today. Things will soften up later this afternoon, and we’ll see a wintery mix giving way to snow in the evening. Cold temps will arrive tomorrow on the back of a blustery SE wind through the night. Well the trails have held up pretty well over the past few warm days, all things considered. No grooming today, things will be little crusty this morning. High of 37 today, with the potential for a little snow. Bundle up for a cold weekend ahead. Temps dipped below freezing last night, luckily. Trails will be crusty this morning, and will soften throughout the day, maybe assisted by a little rain. We won’t be grooming today, but there is plenty of snow on the trails and more snow in the forecast Friday. We will resume grooming efforts by the weekend when the colder temps and new snow arrive.
