The Sporthill Traverse II Pant is composed entirely of 3SP, making it an ideal pant for cross country skiing. The Traverse II Pant has a wide leg, cut straight from the hip. It features a slightly low rise (not at the waist and not a true low rise), with flat front waistband and comfortable fitting elastic back waist. The Traverse Pant has two zippered hand pockets and chafe-free flatlock stitching along the inseams. Customers love the clean, flattering look of the Sporthill Traverse II Pants, which look great on and off the snow!
Based in Eugene Oregon, Sporthill changed the game in cross country ski clothing by creating their signature fabric called 3SP. This densely woven, polypropelene / spandex knit is windproof up to 35 mph. Brushed on the inside for softness, it dries fast, sheds rain and snow, and keeps its wearers warm and protected from wind. According to Sporthill: “Ounce for ounce, 3SP is the warmest fabric on the planet!” Combine that with comfortable stretch, breathability, and wicking properties, and you’ve got an ideal pant for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter biking.
Also available in Mens, the Sporthill Terrain Pant.
If there is one word to summarize how one should dress for cross country skiing, it has to be layers. Layering is the key to cold weather comfort. Most people understand the idea of layering their clothing for outdoor activity: first, the wicking layer; second, the insulation layer and third the wind and weather layer. The key to making it work for you just takes a little practice. A comment we often hear is that, once out on the trail for 10-15 minutes, people are too hot! What a great problem: to be too hot when you’re outside in the winter! Well, fortunately, it’s never been easier to lighten up your layers.
